Four people were killed and seven others injured in artillery strikes on Nova Kakhovka, a city outside Kherson, the occupied region’s Russian-installed governor reported on Tuesday. Vladimir Saldo blamed the attack on “Kyiv’s militants and their NATO accomplices,” stating that the strikes were carried out using 120-mm mortars. The shelling reportedly hit a passenger bus in the city.
Health officials in the occupied city told the state news agency RIA Novosti that 12 people were injured in the attack. The authorities later raised the tally to 21, including two children. Meduza cannot verify these claims.
Russian occupation officials in Nova Kakhovka also reported Ukrainian drone attacks targeting vehicles carrying Vitaly Gura, the district’s Russian-appointed head, his deputy Maksym Novak, and other administration officials. Gura’s office said the drones damaged the cars but left the passengers unscathed.
The Ukrainian government has not commented on these reports.
