Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has reported that the four people suspected of carrying out the mass shooting at the Crocus City Hall concert venue outside of Moscow on Friday planned to flee to Ukraine after the attack, according to Russian state media.

“After committing the terrorist attack, the criminals tried to flee, traveling by car towards the Russia-Ukraine border,” the FSB said. “As a result of the concerted efforts of intelligence and law enforcement agencies, all four terrorists were arrested within a few hours of each other in the Bryansk region. They are currently being transported to Moscow.”

The agency alleged that the suspects intended to cross the border in Ukraine and that they “had appropriate contacts on the Ukrainian side.”
