On Friday morning, Russian police pulled over a vehicle as it was exiting the city of Voronezh and arrested four passengers, including Pavel Sychev, the head of barred presidential candidate Boris Nadezhdin’s local campaign office, according to OVD-Info.
According to the Telegram channel SOTAvision, the detainees were on their way to Moscow to attend Alexey Navalny’s funeral, which is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
Residents of cities throughout Russia placed flowers in honor of Navalny on Friday morning, according to the outlet 7x7. In Vladivostok, authorities reportedly fenced off a memorial to victims of political repressions, purportedly for repairs. In response, locals began bringing flowers to the city’s Park of Faith and Hope.
Municipal employees have been removing the flowers, and police have been checking the documents of visitors to the park.
