Over 10,000 users report disruptions on Telegram, with 38 percent of complaints coming from Moscow

Thousands of users reported outages on the messaging app Telegram on Sunday, according to the monitoring sites Downdetector and Sboi.rf.

Downdetector shows that the disruptions began at around 2:00 p.m. Moscow time. Users reported being unable to update Telegram channels or send messages through the app. The reports came from users both inside and outside of Russia.

As of this writing, Sboi.rf had already received more than 10,000 complaints. The highest numbers of outage reports came from users in Moscow (38 percent) and St. Petersburg (12 percent).

It’s unclear what is causing the outage, and some users wrote on Sboi.rf that the app is still working normally for them.
