Six activists who were detained during a protest on January 17 in Baymak, a town in Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan, were arrested, Denis Skvortsov, one of the detainees told independent outlet Verstka. The detained were protesting the sentencing of prominent local activist Fail Alsynov.
According to Skvortsov, he and four others were given 10-day jail sentences. Another detained activist was given a 13-day sentence. All six activists were found guilty of violating the procedure for organizing a rally.
