Switzerland plans to host a global peace summit on Ukraine, said Swiss President Viola Amherd during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky, in turn, said that Switzerland and Ukraine would begin preparing for the event as early as January 16.
Judging by a comment from Zelensky, it appears Russian representatives will not be invited to the summit. “We are open to all countries that respect our sovereignty and territorial integrity. Therefore, draw your own conclusions about whom we’re inviting,” Zelensky said when asked who would participate.
On January 14, Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis said that sooner or later Moscow would need to be brought into negotiations since “there will be no peace without Russia’s word.”
