Kazakhstan has extradited Russian cybersecurity expert Nikita Kislitsin, who is wanted in the U.S. for allegedly purchasing hacked personal data from the now-defunct website Formspring, to Moscow, Russian state media reported on Wednesday.

The Kazakhstani authorities arrested Kislitsin at Washington’s request in June. Moscow requested his extradition shortly after, charging him with illegally accessing protected information.

According to Russian investigators, in October 2022, Kislitsin and his accomplices hacked a business’s server, copied data from it, and demanded the equivalent of thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency in exchange for not distributing the materials publicly.
