Russian prosecutors have requested a 10.5-year prison sentence for Ksenia Fadeyeva, the former head of opposition politician Alexey Navalny’s regional office in the city of Tomsk who’s facing “extremism” charges for her involvement with Navalny, according to her supporters.
Fadeyeva’s sentence is set to be handed down on December 29. She was first arrested in December 2021 and restricted from activities including using the Internet and communicating with others without the authorities’ permission shortly after. In November 2023, she was sent to a pre-trial detention center.
On December 27, an ambulance was called for Fadeyeva after she became unwell in a 12-hour court session during which she was denied food.
