Hotel in Russia’s Rostov region closed after refusing to provide accommodations for soldiers returning to war after leave

The Dobrynya hotel in Millerovo, a city in Russia’s Rostov region, has closed, writes newspaper Kommersant. A few days prior to its closure, there were reports that the hotel refused to accommodate soldiers who were returning to fight in Ukraine after military leave.

The newspaper wrote that the hotel’s website stopped functioning and no one was answering the hotel’s phone. According to the Telegram channel Don Mash, the door to the hotel is locked.

On December 18, a military transportation organizer, who booked a room for soldiers to stay in, told Don Mash that the hotel refused to provide accommodations for three soldiers returning to fight in Ukraine.

Don Mash posted a clip from a recording of an alleged conversation with the hotel’s administrator. “We try not to accommodate [soldiers], yes. Then, people don’t want to come with their children that day. They’re afraid, and then drive further. And then, we end up only with soldiers. Plus, the soldiers behave poorly. They smoke in their rooms, leave a lot of garbage,” said the women speaking in the recording.

The hotel’s administrator told the outlet RostovGazeta that the incident occurred in late November and that unknown people began calling the hotel with threats and insults after Don Mash’s posts on Telegram.
