Russian officers fire warning shots into air and detain 82 people during clash with migrants in Moscow

In Moscow, 82 foreign nationals were detained after a clash with police officers, reports Russian state news agency Interfax, referencing Russia’s Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow.

The incident occurred on the evening of December 15. The conflict began after a local police officer tried to check the documents of a 21-year-old migrant while he was in his car. The man didn’t comply and tried to flee, dragging the officer for several meters. He then got out of his car and hit the officer several times.

A few dozen people then arrived at the scene and began to clash with the police. The officers fired several warning shots into the air, and then began detaining people.

Protocols for disorderly conduct and the violation of migration legislation were drawn up. Cases have been opened against the 21-year-old migrant for the use of violence.
