Slovakia’s interim government announced that it has stopped sending military aid to Ukraine as parties opposed to such support discuss forming a coalition after the recent parliamentary election, reports Politico, referencing Slovakian government representatives.

“The outgoing bureaucratic government in Slovakia will not send any more military material to Ukraine,” a government spokesman said.

On September 30, Slovakian parliamentary elections took place. The Smer Direction – Social Democracy party won, led by Robert Fico, who has twice served as the country’s prime minister. During his election campaign, he promised that he would oppose supplying Ukraine with military aid.

Robert Fico was forced to resign as the country’s prime minister in 2018 after massive protests erupted in response to the killing of a journalist.
