Bulgaria to ban entry for cars with Russian license plates

The Bulgarian authorities will ban entry to Russian cars, the head of the country’s border police Anton Zlatanov said on Bulgarian national television.

“We worked very actively from Thursday (September 28) until yesterday (October 1). I’m confident that by the end of the day (October 2), the ban on entry to cars from Russia will come into effect. And I want to note that trucks from Russia have been banned for several months already,” said Zlatanov, as quoted by the news outlet 24 Hours.

The head of the border police noted that the ban affects cars and other items that are subject to EU restrictions. While he did not specify exactly how many cars with Russian license plates enter Bulgaria each month, he noted that there are not many.

Bulgaria is the latest country to introduce a ban on cars with Russian license plates, joining Norway, Poland, Finland, and the Baltic countries.
