Representatives of the Ukrainian command reported that two Mi-8 helicopters crashed in the Donetsk region on August 29, killing six pilots.
Ilya Yevlash, representative of the Eastern Group of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, told the Ukrainian news outlet Suspilne that the two helicopters were carrying out a combat mission when they were notified that a Russian Su-35 fighter jet had taken off. According to Yevlash, the helicopters began to prepare for landing in order to evade a possible attack when the crash occurred. A special commission is looking into the specific details of the crash.
RBC Ukraine cited Yevlash as saying that the helicopters crashed in the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region.
