According to Interfax, the Federal Security Service (FSB) said that it had foiled an attempt by Ukrainian intelligence to commit a terrorist attack on one of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet ships “carrying high-precision missiles.”
The agency claims to have arrested a Russian Navy serviceman, “recruited by Ukrainian intelligence.” According to the FSB, two improvised explosive devices with a total mass of one kilogram of a TNT equivalent were seized from him.
The detainee is also suspected of transferring state secrets to Ukraine, the FSB said.
A criminal case will be opened against the officer for terrorist acts (article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code), illegal trafficking of explosives (article 222.1), state treason (article 275), and the disclosure of information constituting state secrets (article 283).
The FSB has not disclosed the name of the officer or the ship allegedly being targeted.
