Prosecutors have requested a 260,000-ruble ($3,250) fine for former Yekaterinburg Mayor and war critic Evgeny Roizman, who faces charges of repeatedly “discrediting” the Russian army.

Additionally, they requested that the “restrictions on certain actions” that have been in place since Roizman’s arrest in August and that bar him from communicating with anyone without permission; using the Internet, phones, and snail mail; and attending public events remain in effect.

After being hit with misdemeanor charges three times in 2022 for “discrediting” the army, Roizman was summarily fined 150,000 rubles ($1,873) before being arrested on felony charges in August 2022. In March 2023, a Yekaterinburg court sentenced the former mayor to 14 days in prison for sharing “extremist” content from Team Navalny.
