Following the International Criminal Court’s decision to issue an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin and Russia’s Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova, the administration’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the press about the mood in the Kremlin:
We’re seeing huge quantities of openly hostile behavior towards our country and our president around the world. We’re registering this, but if we took every expression of hostility to heart, nothing good would come of it. We’re keeping calm. We’re documenting everything. We’re continuing to work. Most importantly, the president himself continues working.
Earlier, Peskov described the ICC’s decision as “outrageous and unacceptable.” Putin himself has not responded publicly to being charged with war crimes.
