A Khabarovsk rally in support of former governor Sergey Furgal, sentenced to 22 years in prison, attracted 70 people

A protest took place in Khabarovsk in support of the former governor, Sergey Furgal, who was recently sentenced to 22 years in prison for allegedly ordering business-related contract killings in 2004 and 2005.

According to online outlet 7×7, around 70 people participated in the protest, which was timed to coincide with Furgal’s 53rd birthday.

The crowd chanted “Me, us, him, her — the whole country is with Furgal,” “Freedom for Furgal,” and “Furgal for president.”

There were also reports of smaller protests in Novosibirsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, and Moscow.
