The global “peace summit” proposed by the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been scheduled for February 24, 2023, the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In an interview to Anadolu Agency, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar said that the summit is slated to take place at the UN headquarters in New York City.

Ukraine, Bodnar points out, is ready for peace, and steps to achieving it have been outlined by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky first aired the idea of a peace summit last December. As of the early January, though, the UN itself had said they weren’t yet preparing for a peace summit.

Zelensky’s ten-step peace plan, first presented at the G20 summit in Bali, has been rejected by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who said that “Kyiv isn’t ready for dialogue.”
