Vladimir Putin has signed a decree dissolving Russia’s Federal Tourism Agency (Rostourism). According to the document, the Economic Development Ministry will take over the agency’s responsibilities.
The Kremlin has not provided an explanation for the dissolution. Zarina Doguzova, the now-former head of the agency, has not commented publicly.
Rostourism was created in 2004.

The death of Rostourism isn’t the first major change to the way Russians travel this year. In September, the EU suspended its visa deal with Russia, and in the weeks since, a number of European countries have banned Russians from entering them on tourist visas. But tourists aren’t the only Russians affected by Europe’s policies.
