Update. The feed for the Twitter account @sputnikvaccine no longer comes up as “temporarily restricted.” This changed an hour after the account’s restriction was first reported in the media.
The Twitter account for Russia’s “Sputnik V” coronavirus vaccine, @sputnikvaccine, has been temporarily restricted due to “unusual activity.”
Spokespeople for the Russian Direct Investment Fund, which is supporting the vaccine’s development, told the newswire Interfax that they are still trying to find out the reason for the restriction.
Though the account’s tweets are restricted temporarily, this doesn’t mean it has been blocked. You can still access tweets from @sputnikvaccine by clicking “Yes, view profile” — unlike the account of U.S. President Donald Trump, for example, which has been suspended for violating Twitter’s regulations.
