Three Russian film directors added to the Academy

Three Russian film directors have become members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which is responsible for selecting nominees and winners for the Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars.
Two of the directors, Igor Kovalev and Mikhail Aldashin, were prominent employees of the Soviet cartoon producer Soyuzmultfilm. The third director, Sergey Dvortsevoy, created the Oscar-nominated film Aika.
