Renewed autopsy of journalist Sergey Dorenko reveals no signs of poisoning

Experts found no trace of any toxic substances in the blood and tissues of Sergey Dorenko, a well-known Russian journalist who died on May 9. Interfax, RBC, and Baza reported on the results of the autopsy. Interfax’s source said natural causes remain the primary explanation for Dorenko’s death.

Ekho Moskvy editor-in-chief Alexey Venediktov confirmed those results, saying he had heard about them from “people who are participating in the examination” of Dorenko’s remains. Venediktov said the official results of the autopsy will be available on May 15.

Dorenko, the former editor-in-chief of the radio station Govorit Moskva, was scheduled to be buried on May 12, but his daughters asked for additional autopsy tests to verify that he was not poisoned. The journalist’s initial autopsy named an aortic rupture as the cause of death.
