A 51-year-old resident of Chelyabinsk region accused of kidnapping, rape, and murder has been arrested. According to investigators, he killed one woman, and kept another he kidnapped in his house for 14 years.
According to Chelyabinsk Online, in the fall of 2009, 19-year-old Ekaterina B. (her last name is not given) met 37-year-old Vladimir Cheskidov at the Chelyabinsk bus station Sinegorye. He offered her a drink at his house in the nearby community of Smolino. Ekaterina agreed.
Later, Cheskidov brought another woman to the house, saying that she was his wife. Telegram channel Mash writes that her name was Oksana. The women almost never met. Cheskidov locked one of them in the shed and the other in the house.
According to the investigation, in 2011, Cheskidov killed Oksana. Ekaterina said that the murder was preceded by a quarrel, during which Cheskidov started beating Oksana and then stabbed her in the head. According to Ekaterina, Cheskidov told her: “If you behave like that, you’ll get the same.” The remains of the murdered woman were found in the cellar of the house.
According to Ekaterina, since 2009, when she was kidnapped, Cheskidov has raped her, beaten her, and threatened to kill her, as well as forced her to help with household chores and take care of his elderly mother. Cheskidov only let Ekaterina out of the locked room for those reasons.
Chelyabinsk Online writes that Ekaterina comes from a dysfunctional family, no one looked for her. At the same time, Komsomolskaya Pravda reports that Ekaterina was living with her older sister Elena in the apartment they received after the death of their parents. It’s unclear whether Elena searched for Ekaterina or not. According to Komsomolskaya Pravda, Elena requested a certificate stating her sister was missing in 2018.
In July 2023, Ekaterina escaped. Her sister told Baza, that Cheskidov began dinking a lot, according to Ekaterina. He started threatening to kill her and his mother. Cheskidov's mother then called a psychiatric ambulance for her son, warning Ekaterina to distract him. When they took him away, Cheskidov's mother said: “Run.”
Cheskidov's mother is on trial along with him in the kidnapping case. According to 74.ru, she called Ekaterina her son's “girlfriend” in conversations with a neighbor for 14 years.
