On the evening of June 23, Wagner Group founder Yevgeny Prigozhin began his rebellion. Wagner units entered Rostov-on-Don. Prigozhin announced a “march of justice” to Moscow. Wagner mercenaries covered several hundred miles, meeting little to no resistance on the ground, and shooting down several military helicopters, as well as an Il-22M airplane. On the evening of June 24, after talks with Alexander Lukashenko, Prigozhin announced that the mercenaries would be returning to their camps “according to the plan.” Meduza has reconstructed a timeline of these historic events.
