On October 19, a group of kindergarteners in Russia’s Rostov region visited a local military base, where they were inducted into the Yunarmiya patriotic youth organization. According to Yunarmiya’s regional office, during the visit, a staff sergeant named Roman K. gifted the children a diorama he’d made, titled “The Liberation of the City of Bakhmut.” The model depicts the ruins of apartment buildings destroyed during Russia’s months-long offensive on the Ukrainian city, along with armed men and military vehicles marked with the pro-war “Z” symbol. The Russian authorities frequently involve children in their propaganda efforts supporting the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
