Elena Milashina, the veteran reporter for Novaya Gazeta, was examined by doctors in Moscow on July 5. She’s been diagnosed with a concussion, multiple (up to 14) fractures to her hands, and multiple bruising. No criminal case has been opened for the brutal attack in Grozny on both Milashina and the attorney Alexander Nemov. Russia’s Investigative Committee is so far only conducting a tentative inquiry. The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov assured the press that “measures are being taken,” but didn’t promise anything more definite.
