During the evening of July 15, protesters in Moscow held a peaceful rally against the recently voted upon amendments to the constitution, which include the “zeroing” of Vladimir Putin’s presidential terms (this could allow him to remain in power until 2036). The protesters gathered at Pushkin Square in downtown Moscow, where they collected signatures opposing the amendments. The rally turned into a spontaneous march through the city center, at which point law-enforcement officers began making arrests. Citing Moscow police, “Interfax” reported that there were 132 people arrested in total, but “OVD-Info” recorded 142 arrests.
