The buckwheat nation Here's what Russians are panic buying as coronavirus spreads

Source: Meduza

Since early March, regions across Russia have been put on high alert to prepare for the spread of coronavirus. Like in many places around the world, the health crisis has driven concerned citizens to stockpile food and household goods. Data collected by the Nielsen company, published by the news agency “Interfax,” shows that so-called “panic buying” spiked in Russia between March 9 and 15. The numbers above reflect increases in sales over the same period last year, except for the data on alcohol, which is relative to the previous week.
