Man rams car into gates of Russian Consulate General in Sydney
A vehicle rammed the gates and drove onto the grounds of the Russian Consulate General in Sydney on Monday morning
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, police received a report around 8:00 a.m. local time about a suspicious vehicle parked in the building’s driveway. When officers tried to speak with the driver, he suddenly accelerated and crashed through the consulate gates.
Police surrounded the vehicle and ordered the driver out at gunpoint. He reportedly offered no resistance and surrendered. The perpetrator, a 39-year-old man, was taken into custody.
One police officer injured his hand in the incident.
