Ukrainian delegation meets with Erdoğan and proposes four-way summit with U.S. and Russian leaders

Ahead of talks with Russia scheduled for Wednesday evening in Istanbul, Ukraine’s delegation visited Ankara for a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, according to Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian President’s Office.

Yermak thanked Erdoğan for his consistent support of Ukraine throughout the war with Russia. “We discussed security, regional stability challenges, and prospects for further defense cooperation between our countries,” he wrote on Telegram.

He added that the talks also touched on plans for a potential four-way summit. “We spoke about the need for a meeting involving President Volodymyr Zelensky, U.S. and Turkish leaders Donald Trump and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Russian President Vladimir Putin as a step toward real negotiations to end the war,” Yermak said.

President Zelensky, for his part, stated that Kyiv would demand an immediate and full ceasefire in the talks with Moscow. He made the statement in response to a Russian drone attack overnight in Ukraine’s Sumy region. According to Ukrainian officials, Russian drones targeted the region’s energy infrastructure, leaving more than 220,000 people without power.
