In recently published updated satellite images of Ukraine, Google Maps revealed the classified locations of military facilities, according to officials at Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.
Andriy Kovalenko, head of the agency’s Countering Disinformation Center, wrote on Telegram over the weekend that his office immediately reached out to the U.S. tech company to remove the images, though he added that Russian outlets and bloggers quickly copied the data and began spreading it on social media.
“They say they are already working to correct the situation with the images of our military system locations,” Kovalenko said of Google.
