The U.S. Embassy in Russia has issued a warning about possible terrorist attacks in Moscow in the next 48 hours.

“The Embassy is monitoring reports that extremists have imminent plans to target large gatherings in Moscow, to include concerts, and U.S. citizens should be advised to avoid large gatherings over the next 48 hours,” it said in a press release published Thursday evening.

After the alert, the U.K. Foreign Office and the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs issued their own warnings, citing the U.S. Embassy.

The Russian authorities have not commented on the situation.

On Thursday, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) reported that its agents had thwarted the activities of an ISIS cell in the country’s Kaluga region whose members were planning an attack on a Jewish religious institution in Moscow. The FSB said the terrorists “put up armed resistance” and were “neutralized by return fire.”
