The investigation into Alexey Navalny’s death should be completed within a month, investigative journalist Christo Grozev told Dozhd (TV Rain). Grozev led the team that identified the Russian agents behind Navalny’s poisoning four years ago.

“We’ll definitely find out the truth, and it won't take as long as last time,” said Grozev. “Because now, it’s not only our team working but also many other investigative journalists coordinated by Maria Pevchikh, [the chairwoman of Alexey Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation]. We’re helping each other, sharing information, and there are already tens of thousands of data points. I’m certain that within a month, we’ll definitely [find out everything].”

Grozev didn’t reveal what exact theories the team is currently pursuing so as not to give Russian special services the opportunity to destroy data needed for the investigation. He noted that poisoning is a “very likely hypothesis.”

The journalist confirmed that for two years, he and Navalny’s team had been laying the groundwork for negotiations between Russia, the United States, and Germany for Navalny’s release as part of a humanitarian exchange. According to Grozev, negotiations were underway at the time of Navalny’s death, and Putin was aware of the proposal.
