General Oleksandr Syrskyi has made his first public statement as the newly-appointed commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian military.

After thanking the members of the Ukrainian Grounds Forces and the Khortytsia operational-strategic group, which he led before his appointment as top commander on February 8, Syrskyi turned his attention to the future:

There are new tasks on our agenda. First and foremost, this entails clear and detailed planning of the actions of all military command bodies, units, and formations, taking into account the needs for the latest weapons supplied by international partners.

Other priorities, he said, include solving issues related to logistics and troop rotations. Ukraine’s military leadership, he said, must “be aware of the needs at the front and monitor the situation in every area.”

Implementing new technical solutions and scaling successful experiences such as the use of drone systems and modern electronic warfare devices will be one of the future vectors for victory in our war of liberation. Only through adaptation and continual improvement of our combat tactics and tools can we expect to succeed on this path.
