The Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) has adopted a resolution to hold the Russian presidential election in 2024 over three days — from March 15 to 17, Interfax reports.

Thirteen members of the CEC voted for the measure while one voted against it, Ella Pamfilova, head of the CEC, announced.

“Voting over the course of three days is already becoming a tradition for our electoral system. It was first used during the pandemic to ensure voter safety, but over time this format has caught on with a majority of voters, as well as due to its other advantages,” Pamfilova said.

The CEC is going to use two “additional forms of voting” in the Belgorod, Bryansk, and Kursk regions bordering Ukraine, as well as in the annexed territories of Ukraine, Pamfilova announced. One form, she said, would be voting in neighborhoods and other places outside polling stations. The second would be “group voting for those who are located in settlements and other places where there are no polling stations, or where transportation is difficult.”

At the same time, Pamfilova said that it has not yet been decided “how expedient and possible” it is to vote in the “reunited subjects of the Russian Federation.” A decision is expected by December 12.
