Majority of Russians polled by Navalny lack strategy for 2024 election but are prepared to rally behind a single opposition candidate

Alexey Navalny has released the results of a survey his team conducted to gauge the views of Russia’s political opposition regarding the country’s 2024 presidential election.

The poll’s respondents included Russian politicians, journalists, and public figures; the survey was also available for anyone to complete online. The results are based on 54,130 responses.

Most (over 30,000) respondents said that they have no clear strategy for how to approach the election, while slightly less than 10,000 respondents said they do have a strategy.

More than half (about 30,000) of respondents said they’re prepared to boycott the election. An overwhelming majority (more than 45,000 people) said they’re open to the strategy of voting for “any candidate who’s against Putin.” Even more respondents (nearly 50,000) said a good strategy could be to choose a single candidate from the political opposition and focus all campaigning on that person.

Out of the eight people Navalny suggested as possible unifying candidates, the most popular were former Yekaterinburg Mayor Yevgeny Roizman, Nobel laureate Dmitry Muratov, and Yabloko founder Grigory Yavlinsky.
