Fixed-wing UAV blows up in western Moscow near bridge over Moskva River. Intimidated locals share footage of aftermath.

Muscovites heard a blast near the Zhivopisny Bridge over the Moskva River this morning, when a UAV flying from the direction of Istra, a western suburb of the Russian capital, blew up in the area, shedding remnants over a local park.

Eyewitness footage published by the Telegram news channel Shot captures a sense of fear among the locals. “Lord have mercy, what a nightmare,” says a female voice behind the camera.

The Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin confirmed the incident on Telegram, writing that no one had been injured and no serious damage had occurred. According to the mayor, the fixed-wing drone had been downed by the air-defense systems.

Russia’s Defense Ministry reports that the UAV “crashed in the woods in the west of Moscow” as a result of electronic suppression.

Earlier, the authorities had temporarily closed the airspace above Kaluga (a regional center southwest of Moscow) and Moscow’s southwestern Vnukovo Airport.
