In a phone call with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the destruction of the Kakhovka dam a “barbaric act,” according to the Kremlin’s press service.
In the conversation with Erdogan, Putin “stated that Kyiv, at the suggestion of its Western sponsors, continues to make a dangerous bet on escalating hostilities, committing war crimes, openly using terrorist methods, organizing sabotage on Russian territory.”
“A clear example of this is the barbaric act of destroying the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant in the Kherson region, which led to a large-scale ecological and humanitarian catastrophe,” reads the statement from the Kremlin.
