Putin travels to Crimea for the first time in three years, for the anniversary of its annexation by Russia

President of Russia Vladimir Putin traveled to Sevastopol, in Crimea, for the ninth anniversary of the peninsula’s annexation by Russia.

Putin visited a school for the arts and children’s center near the archaeological site of Chersonesus.

Kremlin-appointed Sevastopol governor Mikhail Razvozhaev noted that President Putin’s visit was unplanned, and that the president “knows how to surprise.”
