Ukraine to build a mined strip on its borders with Russia and Belarus

Ukraine will strengthen a defensive strip on its borders with Russia and Belarus, in accordance with a law passed by the Verkhovna Rada on February 24. The strip will increase to two kilometers (about 1.25 miles) in width.

Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service noted that “in practice, this will be a mined area.”

Ukraine began mining the most dangerous parts of its shared border with Belarus in the summer of 2022.
