Ramzan Kadyrov says top Chechen general was targeted by poisoning attempt

Chechnya Governor Ramzan Kadyrov reported Monday that Apti Alaudinov, one of his assistants and the commander of Chechnya’s forces in Ukraine, was recently the target of a poisoning attempt.

According to Kadyrov, on February 8, one of Alaudinov’s aides received an envelope with a letter for Alaudinov that had been treated with a poisonous substance. After noticing that the paper had an acrid smell, the Chechen leader said, Alaudinov washed his hands thoroughly and rinsed his nasal cavity, as did everyone else who had touched the envelope.

“The people who had been poisoned went to the medical battalion, where, thanks to the qualified and competent actions of the chief and two medical officers, one of whom turned out to be a professional toxicologist, serious consequences were avoided,” said Kadyrov.
