A MiG-31 fighter-interceptor crashed in Primorsky region, TASS reported, citing emergency services.
The plane fell out of the sky shortly after takeoff. It crashed in a forest near the village of Alekseevka (40 miles from Vladivostok). The crew ejected, but their condition is not yet known. No casualties have been reported.
The press service of the Eastern Military District confirmed the fighter plane crash. “The flight was carried out without ammunition. The plane fell in a deserted place, there was no damage on the ground. According to preliminary information, the cause of the accident could have been a technical malfunction,” they said.
The Bell wrote in mid-October that non-combat losses of Russian military aviation total at least ten aircraft since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In October, an Su-34 bomber crashed near a nine-story building in Yeysk, Krasnodar region, killing 15 people. A few days later, an Su-30SM fighter jet crashed into a two-story house in Irkutsk.
