FSB says it ‘prevented a series of terrorist attacks’ in Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia

Source: RIA Novosti

The FSB claims to have prevented “preparations for a series of terrorist attacks” on crowded places in the Kremlin annexed part of the Zaporizhzhia region.

The agency announced that it arrested three Ukrainian citizens in Melitopol. They were allegedly “on their way to plant an explosive device at one of the city’s markets.” The FSB says it confiscated explosive components, electronic detonators, a grenade, and pistols.

The FSB claims that two of the arrestees have given confessions – allegedly, they acted on Ukrainian special services’ instructions, “in order to intimidate the civilian population of the Zaporizhzhia region.”

Criminal cases have been opened against them, and they were taken to Moscow.

The FSB regularly reports preventing terrorist attacks, allegedly prepared by Ukrainian special services, in various parts of Russia. On November 24, the agency announced that it had prevented a sabotage attempt on the South Stream pipeline.
