Multiple members of Russia’s Presidential Human Rights Council has asked Federal Investigative Committee head Alexander Bastrykin to investigate the circumstances surrounding a video that allegedly shows the murder of former prisoner and Wagner PMC recruit Yevgeny Nuzhin.
The council members sent Bastrykin a list of specific questions to be answered, including whether Nuzhin is still alive, whether he is or was an ex-prisoner, whether he is the man in the video, and who is responsible for filming and releasing the video.
“We don’t have laws that allow summary executions, no matter what this person did. Even if he’s a ‘traitor,’ there is a court and a Criminal Code. We don’t live in the Middle Ages. There must be an investigation,” Eva Merkacheva, one of the request’s authors, told RBC.
