The mother of a man from Russia’s Omsk region who was conscripted in September claims that her son and several other draftees from the region were sent to join the Wagner private military company (PMC), Soldiers' Mothers Committee Executive Secretary Valentina Melnikova told the news outlet Agentstvo.

According to the conscript’s mother, military officials did not mark in the man's military ID that he had been mobilized, which allowed them to put him in a Wagner PMC unit. The group reportedly also included ex-convicts. The woman said that group was located in the combat zone in Ukraine’s Luhansk region.

The man’s family told Melnikova that they complained to their local military prosecutor and military commissariat as well as to the Omsk regional authorities, but have yet to receive a response.

Agentstvo noted that it was unable to talk to the family directly because they’re currently not ready to speak publicly about the situation.
