Police arrested at least eight women at an anti-war protest rally in Ulan-Ude on Friday, according to the human rights organization OVD-Info.

The protesters were put in a police vehicle. Two of them were reportedly issued warnings after giving explanatory statements to the police, and three were taken to the police station. All but one of the women were released soon after their arrests, the Telegram channel Real Buryatia reported.

Another local Telegram channel reported that the activists managed to derail a pro-government rally marking Russia’s National Unity Day when they caused police to close off the city’s main square and arrest anyone who tried to pass through.
