At least 13 people are now confirmed to have been killed by the Su-34 bomber plane that crashed near a nine-story apartment building in Yeysk on Monday, the press service of Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry told TASS.
“Rescue workers have finished removing the debris. During the course of the search and rescue operations, the bodies of 10 people were discovered. Thus the total number of victims is 13 people, including three children. 19 people were injured as a result of the disaster,” a ministry representative said.
In addition, 68 people were rescued and more 360 were evacuated, the representative reported.
A harbinger of lies to come
Another plane crash Russia was involved in, that of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, is often described as a landmark moment in the evolution of the Putin administration’s propaganda techniques. But Russian media analysts at the time likely couldn’t have imagined the degree to which disinformation would penetrate Russian politics just eight years later.
