Poland completes wall on its border with Belarus

Poland has completed construction of fences on its border with Belarus, says Stanislaw Zaryn, a representative of Poland’s public security services.

“Illegal crossings into Poland are now impossible. Poland’s border today is the best-defended in Europe,” he posted on Twitter, along with pictures of the wall.

Poland began construction on the wall in 2021 because of a sharp increase in the number of migrants trying to enter the EU through Belarus. The EU blamed Belarus for the migration crisis, claiming that Belarusian law enforcement not only failed to stop migrants, but brought them to the border on purpose.

Construction of the border wall cost about 1.6 billion zlotys (about 323 million dollars).
