Belgorod Regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported Wednesday that “munitions were detonated” in the city’s Valuysky District. The explosion, which reportedly injured 14 people, was caused by “the human factor,” Gladkov said. According to the Telegram channel Mash, a grenade launcher was unintentionally fired during military training.
Wednesday’s incident wasn’t the first of its kind in the border region in recent months: on August 18, a munitions warehouse caught on fire near the village of Timonovo, while on August 23, “ammunition spontaneously combusted as a result of hot weather.” According to the governor, neither accident caused any injuries.
