Russian federal investigators have added new charges to the case against opposition politician Vladimir Kara-Murza, who’s currently in jail for allegedly spreading “disinformation” about the Russian military. He now also stands accused of “carrying out the activities of an undesirable organization."
According to a Facebook post by his lawyer, Vadim Prokhorov, Kara-Murza’s alleged crime was to organize a conference in support of political prisoners in Russia that was funded by the Free Russia Foundation on October 27, 2021. The Free Russia Foundation was added to the Russian government’s list of “undesirable” organizations in June 2019.
